A 501 (c) Non Profit organization
More than 30,000 young adults are released from the foster care system in the United States at the age of eighteen each year. In Florida, that totals approximately 800 teenagers. We call these former foster care children, The Forgotten Ones. These forgotten young adults are expected to care for themselves but most are physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually unprepared for this transition. Rather, they are plagued by mental illness, drug use, unemployment, and homelessness,as illustrated in the following graphic.
In order to combat the lack of aid provided to such children, The Forgotten Ones, Inc. , a non-profit organization located in Oviedo, Florida is working to provide children in this demographic with the necessary know-how to become self-sufficient and productive.
